![]() ![]() In theory having different weapon types favor different attacks was interesting but it was too much of a pain to actually pull off a thrust or what have you with the default move in a direction while attacking since that often put you off target. They tried with Morrowind but it just didn't work well. ![]() For me it's all about Sid Meier's notion of Interesting Choices, and the additional choices that Morrowind offered weren't ones I found all that interesting. If there was more differentiation between weapons/weapon types, along the lines of Dark Souls, then I might see more of a point in specific weapon skills - but even then, having several individual skills for weapon types tends to result (at least for me) in me choosing one type and sticking with it, rather than experimenting with different types, which is why I'd rather tie proficiency with different weapon types to more varied stats that benefit all weapons but favour specific ones. I never found the range of weapons and according skills all that interesting, mainly because combat was so clunky in Morrowind. I have to say that I mostly like the skills streamlining they've done on the way to Skyrim. ![]()
